Looking for volunteer runners to shadow their athletes at training so they can ensure the athletes get the most out of their training program that the coaches have put in place. Special Olympics athletes find it challenging to stay focused and on task with their training and with a support runner shadowing 2-3 athletes of a similar standard, they really progress much faster.
Volunteers don't have to have coaching qualifications or experience but a passion for running and for helping people with a disability are required.
You will be registered as a volunteer and fully covered by SO insurance. If you are keen to learn more about coaching, Special Olympics would support you with any courses.
Training takes place on Friday afternoons 4.30-5.30pm at the SAS Athletics track Narrabeen during school terms. You do not have to commit to every Friday if your time is limited, it could be every 2nd Friday or even the 3rd Friday of each month.
